Her humble beginnings lead her from the country town of Wauchula, Florida where she picked oranges after school to the courtroom in South Florida where she served as a role model for the litigants that appeared before her. Since starting her career in the public sector, Shirlyon has always known serving others was and is her passion. Each day with each case, her goal is to make a meaningful impact in the lives of the individuals, families, and companies that we serve.

Previous Work Experience

After graduating from the University of Florida College of Law, Shirlyon began her career as an Assistant State Attorney where she tried more than one hundred judge and jury trials. During her time as a Prosecutor, she developed skills as a litigator and a tough negotiator. Not only does she have experience appearing before judges, but she also served as a judge in the 11th Judicial Circuit.

Prior to founding the firm, Shirlyon served as Assistant General counsel for the Dade County Police Benevolent Association and Director of Civil Rights for Miami-Dade County Schools and Florida International University.

Commitment to Community

Shirlyon is an active member of the South Florida community where she has dedicated her time to many organizations: Past President of the Wilkie D. Ferguson Bar Association, Gwen S. Cherry Women Lawyer’s Bar Association, Miami Dade Alumni Chapter of Bethune-Cookman University, Miami Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Greater Miami YWCA Board of Directors, Former Chairperson of the Miami Gardens Educational Excellence Council, Shirlyon is the Vice President of Miami-Biscayne Bay Chapter of the Links, Incorporated and a Graduate of Leadership Miami.

She has received many awards for her commitment to the success of others. She was recently awarded the AAUW Leadership Award. She is the first African American female to be inducted into the Hardee County High School Hall of Fame. She was honored with The Miami Chapter of the National Business and Professional Women South Florida Club’s highest award, the Sojourner Truth Award for her leadership. She is also a John Maxwell Certified Coach, Trainer, and Speaker.
